Speechless.

* This post is from February 6, 2012.*

Yes. There are two lines there. Faint. But there.

Ed and I had decided we wanted to start this journey last Summer. We had a few hiccups along the way, and lots of stress and disappointments. But, we finally got our "Big Fat Positive!"

After months of negative results, I decided to take some advice and forget about it. Normally, I would have taken about four tests by this point, but I wasn't going to do that to my self anymore. I was constantly looking for symptoms, but I really didn't feel any different. The girls were a little sore on Saturday at Zumba, but that is also a sign of Aunt Flow. Then Saturday night, I started running a low grade fever. No other symptoms except for just feeling a little "yucky." Today, I sent home one of the kids from school with Strep Throat. When I got home, I started feeling like I was running a fever again! So, I decided, I had Strep or......

I didn't get too excited. It was about 30 minutes until Zumba, so I hurried to Food Lion. I bought the Early Result First Response Test. Normally, theses babies run about $15 a pop. So, when she gave me my total, I was shocked. It was $6! Whoa! As I walked out the door, I thought it could be a sign. I rush home and proceed with the test (You probably don't want those details). Ed immediately picks it up after I carefully lay it flat, as directed. I screamed, "Lay it flat!" I didn't want anything to alter the results. Naturally, he is hurt that I jumped on him, and goes off to his Man Cave. On every test I had taken before, the control line immediately pops up bright pink, but this test was completely blank for about 10 seconds. My initial thought was: "Great, Ed did mess it up." Lol. Then, the control line started to appear. Dang. Just one line.

Still hoping, I sat there a little longer.  Ever so slowly, a second line begins to appear. At first, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. I scream for back up. Ed comes in and looks. He sees it too. The longer we stare, the darker it gets. I rip open the second test and try it again. I need a re-test. Once again, we get the same result. At this point, it is about 15 minutes until Zumba. So, I call Christy for more back up. She comes over and she sees it too. We aren't crazy! We decided to skip Zumba and celebrated by munching on left overs and snacks. I can't stop smiling. I am on the verge of tears and my whole body is shaking! It will be a miracle if the whole world doesn't know my midnight.

According to Due Date Calculators using my LMP, I am four weeks today. Very early. I know we have quite a while before we are "out of the woods," but I just have to keep telling myself: "If it is meant to be, then it is meant to be."

  3. Yay!!!!! That is so exciting! I love hearing stories about how people found out. I'm so excited for you to experience pregnancy. It really is amazing. The first few weeks are so awesome too. Oh, and when you tell people you are pregnant, and they ask you how far along you are, and you tell them, when they say, "Oh, that's early," remember that pregnant is pregnant! That would irritate me so bad when people would say that, especially my doctor. Pregnant is pregnant! Early or not, there is a baby in there! That bugged me if you can't tell. :) Just thought I would share that. :)
