Nugget is the size of a Lime |
So, what is new this week? Well, I think I have had my first official craving. I purchased four boxes of cereal. For myself. Luckily, Food Lion was having a sale on cereal, so I managed to save $5 in the process. When I eat my cereal, the milk has to be freezing cold. I keep refilling the bowl until the milk gets warm, then I'm done. I usually wind up eating about four bowls in one sitting. We also have starting plotting and planning for the nursery. I have a blog in the works that includes all of our inspirations and choices, so far. While planning, we have discovered that we will not be purchasing any new items to furnish the nursery! Talk about a money saver. We will be using pieces that are sentimental and have been passed down: my crib (Yes, I will be making sure that it is safe and the necessary changes are made), my childhood dresser, and a rocker that belonged to my family for years. I will be refinishing these items, and plan to blog that adventure, as well. I decided to use a rocking chair instead of the traditional glider. Well, the rocking chair is probably more "traditional." I couldn't justify spending money on a glider that would only be used in the nursery. My plan is to re-purpose and reuse as many items as I can for the nursery. I plan to buy from consignment sales and yard sales, also. As of now, it looks as though the only brand new item will be the crib mattress. I am not too keen on using a used mattress.
I have anxiously been awaiting this Spring Break. I plan to make the most of my free time. It may be a little early, but as mentioned, I am starting on the nursery. We have decided to switch the Man Cave and the Storage Room. This is going to be a job. I have already converted all the closets and pulled everything but the bigger pieces of furniture out of Nugget's room. This has made me aware of even more junk. So, a Yard Sale is in the works for Saturday. I have ordered fabric swatches and will be matching paint colors once they arrive. I am going to pick up a carpet cleaner/steamer from my Mom tomorrow. Once the carpets are clean and the walls are repainted, I will begin working on painting the furniture. No sense in putting it in the room, just to pull it out to repaint. My goal for this week is to completely switch and organize the Man Cave and Storage Room, go through every room in the house to purge for the Yard Sale, relax, and work on a little tan. Since I cannot visit the Fake n' Bake, I am looking like a Cullen these days.
Last post, I shared that we had names picked out. I will give you a little hint, but this is all you get until we are closer to a gender: HJC and PEC. Alright, I hope that holds you over until closer to June!
This week, I came across program that will turn your blog into a book. This is great! I have decided that the first book will be my journey through pregnancy. I will begin with the announcement and continue until my last post before Nugget arrives. I think that this will be a great keepsake for me, and Nugget may appreciate it when he/she is older. Thanks for stopping by, and be on the lookout for my Nursery Inspiration post later this week! I may sneak in a little update after our doctor appointment on Thursday, too.
Love the blogs, don't over-do and hurt your back again. PEC, I use to work there, remember. Love, Dad.
ReplyDeleteYou are right! Nursery stuff is ridiculously priced. All of our furniture for the nursery was passed down to us. The only new things in there are a glider rocker and foot stool, which were gifts from my grandmother. All of the clothes I have are either yard sale clothes or they were given to me. No sense in spending a fortune! Oh, and you are definitely not too early to be starting on the nursery! It definitely takes time to get things put together like you want them. We almost waited til the last minute, and it stressed me out. So definitely start early! I'm excited to find out the gender and name!!! :)
