37 Weeks

37 Weeks

Haddie is the size of a Winter Melon

Hello, friends and those who may have stumbled upon my blog. My "full term" celebration has ended, and now I am thinking I ready to not be pregnant! The past week week has been one of the longest of my life. Long, slow, and relatively uneventful. There were a couple days that got my head spinning. Let's do a quick recap of the highlights.

Still no major symptoms. I have had a little more swelling lately, but nothing major. It still comes and goes. Heartburn is becoming few and far between, but I don't think it is because she has dropped any. Because she hasn't. Still not a contraction in sight. However, she is still moving like crazy! She is definitely running out of womb, I mean room, which makes the movements awkward and a little uncomfortable on occasion. Sleep is still great! Most women complain they can't/couldn't at this point. Not a problem for me. It only takes a minute to get settled. Once I am comfy, I am right to sleep. I thought late-night potty visits were becoming a regular thing, but like the swelling, they also come and go.

I am still feeling pretty lucky in the "Easy Pregnancy Department." However, I am afraid that it will be the end that gets me. She appears to be quite stubborn already, so I am afraid she is going to be just as stubborn to get into the World. She has shown no interest as of yet!

Week 37 was my last week of work, and it was probably a good thing! We had a little trouble nailing a sub for me, and it was getting down to the wire. Luckily, we found a lovely lady to supervise my 22 darlings while I am away. I was prepared mentally to work a few extra days if I needed to, but I am pretty sure my body would have protested. The sinus infection that has been lingering in my head for weeks probably didn't help either. Needless to say, bending down to tie shoes, being on your feet all day, and keeping 22 four and five year olds under control in general was rough on this Prego Chick.

My last two days of work were a whirlwind! Thursday was a jam-packed one! We are most likely joining the tech-savvy and getting a SMART Board for the classroom. I am really excited about this! At 8am, we had a visitor bring a demo board and show the kids what fun and learning can be done with this new "toy". Early morning visitors can be a hit or miss, but they handled it really well. Let me back up a few minutes and show you what I walked into the classroom to find...

Yes! Another Surprise Diaper Shower from this year's class! I have been a broken record lately saying how blessed we are to be completely surrounded with such caring people, but it is true! I had to contain myself and hold off until the end of the day to open the gifts and enjoy some party food. Well, I snuck a few bites/peeks here and there. Of course, we still had a full day of lessons to accomplish in the midst of the fun. Finally, it was party time. I opened gifts in front of the kiddos. They thought it was hilarious each time I pulled out a pack of wipes or diapers. Meanwhile, we were munching on delicious pink cupcakes, pink-iced Thumbprint Cookies (made by the kiddos), and yummy pink punch! The cherry on top was the beautiful swing given to me by my bosses. I don't know what else to say but "blessed."

Added the newest additions to the collection!

As soon as school was over, I was off to my 37 Week Appointment. I have since learned the purpose of my "sample," and it checked out fine. My BP was up (for me), but was still within normal limits. And I had gained two and half pounds in a week. Mary walked in and her first comment was that I looked "puffy." However, with everything thing else within the normal range, I guess I passed the pre-eclampsia test this week. Heartbeat sounded great and measured at 37 Weeks on the dot. No internal exam. I am sure I would have been disappointed with no progress, anyways. I am curious as to how big Miss Haddie is. I kind of wish they would check to see. What if she is like already eight pounds in there! So, it is back in a week.

After the appointment, I came home to get ready for the Bestie's Birthday Dinner. Genghis Grill. Yum! It was delish. All in all, Thursday was a crazy, yet wonderful day. Friday was less eventful, for the most part. But being my last day, it was so s-l-o-w. My feet and ankles were swollen by 9am. And to top it off, right before I walked out the door, one of the kiddos starts throwing up. It gets everywhere. Thank God for my stomach of steel! I said my goodbyes and was out the door!

So far, Maternity Leave has been fabulous. And I am only a few hours in! The plans are to spend this week cleaning the house from top to bottom. I have already almost completed this goal. Only the bathroom remains. Operation Clean House hasn't been just a little spring cleaning. I am talking full blown nesting, deep cleaning. I have gotten to areas that have been neglected for years! I know that we will be having lots visitors coming in the next few weeks. I want my house to be spic and span for them, but most importantly, our newest addition to the house. Then, I am planning a Pamper Me Day. I have a gift certificate for a massage. After all this scrubbing, it will be even more amazing! And I think a pedicure sounds wonderful, too. Next week: Operation Induce Labor! I am going to begin collecting ideas on how to get things in gear. Let me know what works/didn't work for you.

I am in the process of reviewing all my previous posts. I can't wait to order the hard copy of our journey through this pregnancy! Stay tuned as Baby Watch officially begins. Have a great week!
