I have mentioned my procrastination from the get-go. Those who know me, know it is true. So, it would only make sense that I procrastinate on the one thing that revolves around me in this whole "baby process:" My Hospital Bag. I guess you could say that I cut it a little close. Although, it has not been entirely my fault (thanks, Target). So, here we are with only about a week to go, hopefully. I am just glad to be officially packed!
Let's see what made it in my bag. As with Haddie's, I compiled all the lists of what to pack and chose what I thought would be useful. I also decided not to do detailed, close up photos. I don't suppose it is imperative that you get that close of a look to the less glamorous items in my bag. I split the contents of my bag into three categories: Clothing, Toiletries, and Miscellaneous Items.
This is definitely the biggest chunk of my bag. I know they supply those fabulous hospital gowns and mesh undies, but I thought I would be much more comfortable in my own clothing.
Here is a list of what I packed:
1. A Warm, Fuzzy Robe - I hear the hospital can feel like a meat locker.
2. Nursing Bras - I bought one size up and one cup size bigger in anticipation of the "new" girls.
3. Several Pairs of Black Undies - I also bought these are little larger for comfort. I thought black would be a safe choice, if you know what I mean.
4. Nursing Tank/Camis
5. PJ Bottoms - I bought these one size up, as well. I intended on buying black, but I couldn't find any that I liked, in the size I needed, and for the price I wanted.
6. Non-Skid Socks and Houseshoes
7. Old Flip Flops - For the shower
8. Going Home Clothing - I chose a Maxi Dress for ease and comfort. If we are scheduling our arrival, I will wear this to the hospital. Trying to save some room!
This category is pretty self-explanatory. I packed as if I was traveling with a few new items.
Here is what I packed, in addition to the basic bath/beauty supplies:
1. Lanolin - Have heard this can be a lifesaver after the first few feedings.
2. Hand Sanitizer - Don't want any extra germies
3. Overnight Pads
4. Nursing Pads - I am not taking my jumbo box. I did pack a few sample packs that I have collected, just in case. Some said they needed them and others said that it was a few days before they were of any use.
5. Hair Ties
And finally, the few random things that may come in handy.
Here is what I packed:
1. Hard Candy - This probably has several reasons for being on many lists. I just thought it wouldn't hurt.
2. Camera/Charger - Obvious. Also, packed several memory cards and an extra battery. Cell phone pics won't cut it!
3. Folder - I packed a folder to store any paperwork we receive. I have a copy of our pre-admission paperwork, a pen, and some blank paper already stuffed inside.
4. Baby Book - So that we can get her little feet and hand prints while she is all inked up.
5. Extra Tote/Garbage Bag - For dirty clothes or any other items that won't fit when it is time to leave. Does anyone else's belongings multiply while you are gone?!
6. Cell Phone Charger - A definite must have!
Feel free to leave any comments if you see something I missed that you really used/wished you had.
