Hurry Up and Wait

*This post is from February 23rd, 2012.*

In case you haven't noticed, a common word in my vocabulary lately has been "wait." A friend said to me today, "By the time this baby gets here, y'all will be the most patient parents ever." I am beginning to believe it. I feel like suing First Response Early Result pregnancy tests. It is not healthy to know "that" early! Trust me.

So, we had our second ultrasound today. Still no Nugget. However, we do have a gestational sac, a yolk sac, and possibly the beginnings of a fetal pole. When measuring the sac, it read that I was 6 weeks and 1 day. Apparently, I was a little earlier than we originally thought, but everything is there that is supposed to be. So, that is positive. The midwife wants to see us again in two weeks. No bloodwork this time. Yay! She said that it really wouldn't do any good. The numbers will be higher just because I am progressing. Now, we are just watching the ultrasounds for the changes.

On a positive note, we do have our first picture! As mentioned, no visible Nugget, but he/she is in there somewhere. I love this picture! I can't even imagine how it will feel to see a little baby bouncing around in there with a heartbeat! Hopefully, in two more weeks...

  1. Hey, Rachel. Congratulations on your sweet baby on the way! I got off of Facebook at the first of the year and got out of touch with basically everyone, haha. I saw the word "midwife" so now I am curious! While I am not pregnant and don't plan to be soon I have been reading a lot about natural childbirth/parenting the past several months and find it so interesting/amazing! Are you hoping to go all natural? :) If you are I say GREAT!

  2. That is the plan. I am hoping for a head-down baby and to go into to labor on my own. But I know that is not always the case. From my research, the more intervention needed, the less likely for a smooth, natural birth. I really do not want a c-section or to be induced. However, I will do whatever it takes to get my baby here safe and sound.
