27 Weeks and a 28 Week Appointment Update

27 Weeks

Haddie is the size of a Rutabaga

Hello Third Trimester! Wow. You really snuck up on me! I have probably said this a million times, but part of me feels like it is zooming to the end, and then there is still a little part that feels like it is dragging. When I think in terms of weeks, it freaks me out! But when I say she will be here in October, it doesn't sound so close. I guess you could say this week qualified in the calm section, as well. No drama. Nothing spectacular. Just another one down.

Heartburn is still hanging around. The belly feels like it is growing by the minute. Getting comfortable before falling asleep is taking a few more tosses and turns. I think we are in the uphill climb. As of now, I have no sign of stretch marks. Knock on wood. Not that I am that terribly worried about them. It won't be the end of the world if they appear, but I would prefer that they not! Still haven't gained anymore weight. I don't know what is up with that. I feel like I am eating like a horse! I have to say, I feel that I have been blessed with an easy pregnancy, so far. Hopefully, nothing crazy happens in the home stretch.

The Nursery is inching closer to being finished. I actually have a Nursery Reveal post created and have been adding to it here and there. I say within the next three weeks, the wait will be over. Mom finished the curtains, and I love them! We also completed the mobile on Sunday. It took both of us three hours! I am no math genius, but according to my calculations: Had I done it myself, it would have taken six hours! Who knew that DIY could be so time consuming! But, I think that it is worth it in the end. I will post a link to the tutorial in the Reveal Blog.

Still teasing you guys with Black and White

I am thankful to have a Mom who is just as crafty and creative as I am. Who am I kidding? She is the reason that I am that way to begin with. I have decided on a rug. It comes in the three colors of Hadley's room, but I haven't decided which one to go with yet. I also got a great surprise from an old co-worker. I had put a post on Facebook asking for suggestions of where to find vintage and retro toys and knick knacks. The next day, she shows up with a bag full of goodies! She had a beautiful dress made in the 1940's, some vintage hangers, and the best part was the toys. Two Fisher Price toys from the 1960's! I absolutely love them! And today, Marie, a friend from the Teaching Program,  met me in Ringgold with some goodies including buttons, old children's books, and a vintage tin. I met her at the United Gift Shop in Ringgold. I will definitely have to make a trip back to shop! I can't believe that I haven't been in that place.

New Vintage Goodies

In other news, I had my 28 Week appointment today. I decided to go ahead and stick the update in with my 27 Week Blog since it will be another week before I post about the 28th Week. Because I had to have the glucose testing done, my breakfast consisted of a delicious beverage. It really wasn't that bad. I had chosen the Fruit Punch flavor. My description of it can best be described as old, thick Kool-Aid. It was super sugary, but it didn't really taste "sweet." If that makes since. I can honestly say that I won't ever crave one again. So, I drank my drink and headed to the appointment. I actually had to wait this time. I had been instructed to drink it 45 minutes prior to my appointment, so that I would be there and ready at the one hour mark. If it hadn't been for the test, I probably would have waited even longer. Because I was on a time limit, they saw me slightly out of order.

For the testing, they had to draw blood. I am not familiar with glucose testing, but I gather that each office may do it slightly different. I know some ladies who received instant results, however, mine won't be back until tomorrow. But, I was told that "no news is good news." If there is a problem they will give me a call, otherwise, I can call on Tuesday to get the results either way. To do the testing, she tried to draw blood from my left arm first. Not a drop would come out! So, I had the pleasure of being stuck twice! Yay. I think I may need to up my water intake. I haven't really been doing such a great job of staying hydrated. I wondered if that had something to do with my stubborn blood. Weight and blood pressure are all still checking out normal. More on the weight in a minute.

After the testing, it is time for my visit with Mary. She listened for Hadley's heart beat. Which was great! Then she measured me. "Perfect!" was her statement. Now, last week I mentioned how some were constantly pointing out that I look "small." I don't mind so much the comments that I look "cute", and "you can barely tell that I am pregnant." I am grateful for those. It is the looks and remarks that I am just "not big enough" that bother me. They seem to come mostly from the older generation. It is almost like they are implying that I am purposely starving myself or something is wrong. I don't like it. Well, take that! I am right on track!

I also asked Mary about my weight. I asked her if I should be concerned that I haven't really gained that much. She said as long as I am eating normally and when hungry that it must just be a good metabolism. Miss Haddie must have jump started mine back. Lord knows, it had disappeared! She said I shouldn't worry too much either because she is growing and  "baby will get what baby needs." My second question was about the strange episode after the Fourth of July. She said most likely I had over done it and also could have been slightly dehydrated. This almost confirmed my thoughts about my water intake. So, I developed a plan to get a gallon of water in me everyday.

My next appointment is in four weeks. I will be 32 Weeks! After that, I have to start my biweekly appointments. Oh, man! I also decided to schedule a 4D Ultrasound. We will get to see Little Miss on August 14th! I am pretty excited, and hoping to get some good pictures of her. Thanks for stopping by!
